state subsidized programs |
| We participate in both the Medicaid Waiver program and the new Long Term Care Diversion Programs. The following highlights should answer most of your questions. |
- To be eligible for assistance you must have LESS than $2,000 cash to your name. Giving it away today is not an option. After spending down for your care, you may then qualify. We can refer you to several attorneys skilled at such asset management.
- You may have a home which will be exempt as an asset given the Homestead Exemption Act.
- You must be medically needy. Meaning you must need help with 4 or more ADL's (activities of daily living) to quality for waiver and give for diversion.
- Dementia or other serious illness may disallow this total number.
- You must be assessed by the state CARES team and qualified
|
Here is how the finances work:
|
- Your total income is required to be put toward your cost of care and room and board. i.e. your Social Security check, any retirement income or benefit, any death benefit, and residual income of annuity or other qualified investment.
- For Medicaid Waiver, the state will pay any additional monies up to $1685 for your care. So if your retirement income is $950 the waiver program will pay us $735. From that $54 will be given back to the resident for personal needs.
- For the Diversion Programs. You must also contribute your retirement income and the diversion program will contribute between $1,100 and $1,300 toward your care. It would then be the family's responsibility to make up the difference is the cost of care.
For Example: Our rate is $2,200 R & B, incontinence care is an additional $200. Monthly total is now $2,400.00. Your social security check is $1,025.00 and diversion will pay us $1,100.00. Total cash in is now only $2,125.00. The family would then be responsible for the difference of $275.00 a month. Again, from this the resident will receive back $54.00 in personal needs allowance. We work with several diversion providers. You must specificy to the CARES team exactly which one you want to use (we have our favorites). |
